Do I need to register a child staying one night?

Yes, you must register the minor with SES.Hospedajes. The law is clear that all individuals staying in tourist accommodation must be registered, regardless of their age, the duration of their stay, or whether they are residents of the same city. There are no exemptions for children, local residents, or short stays.

Royal Decree 933/2021, which governs guest registration, defines the "obligated party" as anyone who carries out the accommodation activity (Real Decreto 933/2021, article 3.1). This means that if your property is operating as tourist accommodation, everyone who sleeps there must be registered. This includes friends and family, even if they are not paying for their stay, as the obligation attaches to the accommodation activity itself, not to individual payments or relationships (see also: [/answers/need-register-friends-family-stay-free-of-charge/]).

For children under 14, an accompanying adult provides their details. Guests of 14 and over sign for themselves (see also: [/guest-registration/children/]). You will need to collect the required information for the minor, which includes their name, sex, date of birth, nationality, document type and number, home address, phone, and email (Real Decreto 933/2021, Annex I). You then have a strict 24-hour deadline from their arrival to submit these details to SES.Hospedajes (Real Decreto 933/2021, article 4.2).
